DBMS is the live music scene dying?

I need some feedback from around the US not just Arizona. I have been in and out of the music scene here in Arizona for over 30 years. And in all that time I have never seen clubs so empty. I frequent many venues in the valley and it’s always the same. A very low head count. I will tell you this it’s definitely not for a lack of talent. We have many, many bands here in Arizona that are incredibly good. I remember the day of the late 8-s to even the mid to late 90s when no matter what club you decided to go to was packed. I was in a band called Sacrificial Death that later changed the name to Scapegoat and when we have a show on the books we would print up 50 to 100 fliers head to the music stores and grocery stores and hand them out. When it was time to perform the house was packed. I am going to guess a couple problems here. 1. Bands are relying on Facebook to promote and that’s just not going to work anymore. At one time it was a good platform but now they have changed things to where your posts are not even seen half the time. 2. Bands do not hand out fliers anymore. I think if a band wants a good attendance they need to hit the neighborhoods in the vicinity of the venue in which they are playing and hand out fliers to all the homes in that area.

An idea for a remedy, not that this would work or anything, but I think standing at gas stations and grocery stores with not only the fliers in hand, but pictures of the band and maybe a cd with a couple songs on it so they can listen to it. Another way to get people interested is to get them to listen to your music and that’s what I am providing for the local metal bands here in Arizona. The Dust Bowl Metal Show was born to give the local bands a platform so their music can be heard. Now the only way this can work, is if the bands spread the word about the DBMS. What a cool way to hear a band before you go see them perform live. I am giving this to all of the bands for nothing. It costs the bands absolutely nothing. Yes there are some perks for those that donate to keep the show online, but it cost nothing to have their music spun on the show. The DBMS not only provides a platform for people to hear local music, it also provides another platform to advertise their shows, as well as getting the fans involved with the bands they like through the top 10 bands and pictures from shows they have performed. The DBMS also goes out to shows and does interview and reviews of the shows they attend, getting fan feedback and well as spreading the word about the DBMS. Getting people to shows these days has become increasingly harder so we have to create some kind of think tank to remedy this issue. The scene is dying and we are the only ones that can resurrect it. Its not going to come without a price that’s for sure. So the DBMS is working out some new strategies to help this inevitability to be eliminated. So keep a close lookout for the next generation local music revival. TO BE CONTINUED Please leave you feedback and comments on this post. Thank you. Arizona Local Metal Review 06/19/2016

June 19th 2016 16:54  DUST BOWL METAL SHOW local metal review
Well the weekend consisted of Friday only because I ended up getting a job that kept me out sat night. But what a Friday it was daaaaaamn! The party started early at the rock bar with Junes number 1 in the fan chosen top 10 on the Dust Bowl Metal Show. MURKOCET

these guys devastated that stage commanding the crowd’s participation like the pros they are. I know these guys very well and if they keep that explosive energy going they are headed for bigger and better things for sure.

Next up was no stranger to the Arizona scene that’s for sure. LOST IN LIES wow I have never seen these guys before and let’s just say my first impression is one of great respect.

These guys are absolutely amazing. Very catchy music full of melody and infectious grooves for sure. I do have one of their demos and will be playing a song or two this week. However after talking to them, they had mentioned that a video is set to be released here really soon with a brand new track off of their up and coming full length record. So get ready for that.

Now the next band at the ROCKBAR INC. is one that really needs no introduction. SOUNDMANKILLZ I say it on the show all the time I live across the street from the singer of this band.

We always talk about each other’s future shows but we always end up having a show on the same night.
But tonight I was lucky enough to catch three of their songs at this show before having to head out to another venue to see more local bands. How do I start? This band has not only the music to entertain your metal asses, they have the look of apocalyptic killers on stage and their stage presents OMG these guys have that shite down. SOUNDMANKILLZ for the last three months, since their bran new record release, has been in my personal top 10 Arizona metal bands. That top ten changes all the time but they are still in it. If you meat bags get the chance do not miss out on these guys’ big time national prospects for sure.

I had to bolt out really fast because FATAL MALADY was scheduled to go on at 945 and it was already 930 so down the road I flew to the MARQUEE Theater. It was perfect timing just as I walked in the door they stared their set. And if you have never seen these guys you are missing out on one hell of a great local Arizona metal band. These guys are one of the DUST BOWL METAL SHOW Princesses favorite AZ bands.

Commanding the stage is an understatement this night, with a packed house you could hardly hear their music from the screaming of the FATAL MALADY infected crowd. They blew the roof off this place warming the crowd with their set. there were other bands on this bill that I wanted to see but being a one man metal army for the Dust Bowl Metal Show  you do what you can to see as many as you can. One of my favorites was on this bill. THROW THE SWITCH, and the killer band INEPT HERO, as well as a couple more. Then after that to the stage rolled a thundering ICE-T AND BODY COUNT I don’t do reviews on bands that don’t let me talk to them, so all I can say is they tore that stage up like they always do.
All in all even not being able to head out Saturday for some killer az metal my metal cup was filled this weekend for sure. Listen in to the Broadcast this Thursday night 06/23/2016 from 6pm till 9pm. In the 7pm hour we will be spinning one of SicmoniC’s killer CD’s in its entirety, so don’t miss that.

Arizona Local Metal Review 06/05/2016

                                                       DUST BOWL HOME PAGE

The dust bowl metal show has been providing direct support to the local arizona metal music scene since april 2013. The dust bowl metal show platform was created for the local arizona metal bands to get their music heard worldwide.

The DJ of the Dust Bowl Metal Show is also in a local arizona metal band. He is the Guitar Player Singer For 2 IN THE CHEST. He believes wholeheartedly in the local metal scene. This is why he does what he does.

What DBMS provides for the local metal bands are several avenues to get not only their music heard but there name out in the public's eye. By doing local metal reviews of the shows he attends, band interviews, top 10 contests and music videos.

When the DBMS. is invited to a show, tickets are always provided by the band that invited, or the venue/promoter of that particular show.

Review for June 3rd 2016 METALHEADS Club House

I arrived early on this day as my band 2 IN THE CHEST was on the bill. When ever going to a show at MetalHeads you know your night is going to be filled with total pleasure. Band on this bill were Malicious Melodies, 2 IN THE CHEST Sick Black Automatic and Diamond Lane From CA.

First up was Malicious Melodies wow these guys are one fun band. With members from Sofa Kings Toned and a former member of a local Band Latency. This was their first show as Malicious melodies and they did incredible. I was entertained from start to finish. They need to some fine tuning and that will come with time. But all in all they have something really cool.

Next up was 2 IN THE CHEST it's kind of hard to do a review of my self so I will do the review as the artist to the fans. Getting on the metalheads stage is nothing short of comfortable. It's more like performing in your own home with your own family, because that's what it is.DSC_0883.jpg

When looking out into the crowd and seeing the smiles from the faces within that crowd it just gets your blood pumping to give them the best show you can give. We even had a girl hop on stage and dance with the dead. How cool is that? I don't know what they thought of us but with the smiles I think they enjoyed themselves.

Next up was Diamond lane. Now these guys got it going on look music stage presents just an explosion of professionalism. I could not walk away for one min. There music was so very well delivered. Executed with amazing precision. This is a band has national ability without a doubt. 13392296_10153758061636872_5126981193127191613_o.jpg
Last but definitely not least is another newer band to the arizona circuit. These guys are infectious.

SICK BLACK AUTOMATIC. First I would like to say that is a very cool band name and not eaily forgotten with there hard core grooves. I was amazing at the koolness factor of their music. Great band great musicians and killer music. One thing that they need is more shows under their belt. All of these guys are seasoned musicians you can tell. But as a band they need more shows to refine their amazing craft. SICK BLACK AUTOMATIC  is a Dust Bowl Metal Show Favorite for sure. At metalheads the party's not over until it's done and this party rocked until 3 am baby. And it was hoppin the entire night. Thanks again to everyone that came out to the show. You guys freakin rock. See you June 11th at Annfest at Pranksters too and Metal Extravaganza at Joe's Grotto. You have no excuse no matter what side of town you live on. These two killer shows are ones you should not miss. 13403357_1048055691897037_442923757894362477_o.jpg
